Fashion and Expression.

Fashion used to be loud, now its barely a whisper. Somewhere along the way, color disappeared, almost everywhere you look its black, white, grey, and don't get me wrong i like neutrals and shades but when everyone starts dressing like they work in an office building, it starts to get worrying, because fashion is supposed to be self expression. so why is it that everyone's self expression look like one persons minimalistic closet? somewhere throughout shopping and selling clothes, society started deeming colorful as "childish" some were too loud, bold, trying too hard or unserious.

but looking at fashion history, old films, music videos, magazines, color was NEVER an enemy, it made people stand out in their own way. now everyone wants to look clean, effortless, elegant, and fine, but when that becomes peoples uniform, who's going to stick out? who's going to express themselves in a way no one bothers to. All over social media you see people asking "can we bring this back?" "can we start dressing like this again?" like someone needs to do it before anyone else does. but if you just ask questions and make no move to do anything, no one else will, because that's how society is. you have to be your own person without relying on another person to give you the courage to do so.

on that note, individuality gets trapped, people lack expression they lack individuality. now you just see beautiful people in BORING outfits, fitting in with anyone around them, and people judge anyone who dares to break that. we allow ourselves to be dressed by the same algorithm. Fashion is the most powerful art there is and people need to stop hiding behind trends and what other people wear. fashion is meant to speak to people, be fun and colorful, a reflection of the person wearing the clothes. And if that's weird, then I don't want to be cool. express yourself!!!!

How to find your personal style!

1. What do you already reach for?

You should pay attention to what you already reach for. do you reach for baggy jeans? skinny jeans? bootcut? tight or baggy tops? what you already like and feel comfortable wearing and enjoy wearing multiple times is YOUR style, not usually what people have saved on pinterest. yes, those outfits are adorable but not everyone's style. So don't try and make yourself comfortable in a style that just isn't you, because if you aren't comfortable... yeah what's even the point of going out in it?

2. IGNOREEEEE what other people think!!

People are going to judge others no matter what, its just how society has always been. if you're trying to 'fit in' then your outfits and style will always feel off and you wont enjoy wearing it, you should dress for you, not others.

3. Experiment.

This kind of goes with the last one but you should experiment without thinking about what other people think, just wear things, experiment, and put effort towards finding your style without feeling like you need to dress a certain way. just throw embarrassment out the window!!

And in general you should have your OWN opinion, not looking for other peoples validation and constantly asking people if your outfit is okay. you should be thinking about what your go to silhouette is and if you like it, what colors you like and if you think they suit you, its all in your own opinion, not your pinterest boards or what other people wear and think and make trends out of. For literal centuries we have followed what society makes a trend, not what we want to wear. so stop caring and wear what makes you feel confident!! All that matters is that you're happy with your outfit and feel comfortable and confident in it! don't feel anxious because its not trending.

Thanks for reading! I hope this helps! <3
