Fashion used to be loud, now its barely a whisper. Somewhere along the way, color disappeared, almost everywhere you look its black, white, grey, and don't get me wrong i like neutrals and shades but when everyone starts dressing like they work in an office building, it starts to get worrying, because fashion is supposed to be self expression. so why is it that everyone's self expression look like one persons minimalistic closet? somewhere throughout shopping and selling clothes, society started deeming colorful as "childish" some were too loud, bold, trying too hard or unserious.

but looking at fashion history, old films, music videos, magazines, color was NEVER an enemy, it made people stand out in their own way. now everyone wants to look clean, effortless, elegant, and fine, but when that becomes peoples uniform, who's going to stick out? who's going to express themselves in a way no one bothers to. All over social media you see people asking "can we bring this back?" "can we start dressing like this again?" like someone needs to do it before anyone else does. but if you just ask questions and make no move to do anything, no one else will, because that's how society is. you have to be your own person without relying on another person to give you the courage to do so.
on that note, individuality gets trapped, people lack expression they lack individuality. now you just see beautiful people in BORING outfits, fitting in with anyone around them, and people judge anyone who dares to break that. we allow ourselves to be dressed by the same algorithm. Fashion is the most powerful art there is and people need to stop hiding behind trends and what other people wear. fashion is meant to speak to people, be fun and colorful, a reflection of the person wearing the clothes. And if that's weird, then I don't want to be cool. express yourself!!!!
